One of the iconic symbols of Australia with the images of the 12 Apostles being one of the most frequently used pictures to sell Australia. Although the rugged coastline that features in many advertisements only occupies about 20 kilometres of this coast, it still manages to attract vast numbers of visitors. Their “must see” status has led to some visitors just visiting the 12 Apostles on a hectic day trips, and unfortunately they miss out on all the other captivating aspects of the Great Ocean Road. The trip between these two major cities is one of the most popular trips made by international visitors, as it offers a great diversity of scenery, and landscapes as well as taking in some of Australia's most iconic attractions.

The total length of the journey is between 700 and 800 kilometres (depending on the chosen route) which means the trip can be easily done within three days without stress and average driving distances kept to around 250 kilometre per day.
